To the south of the Wendover airfield, there are several bunkers visible which were used to store the munitions used in training. Buildings in this area were used in late WWII for the development of the Little Boy & Fat Man atomic bombs, as well as practice bombs known as Pumpkins. The tower is not historic, but was constructed for the filming of ‘Independence Day’. The ‘Gun Butt’ structure was used to test aircraft machine guns.  Military training activities are still current.
